Granted in 1646 to English colonist Thomas Cornell, the neck took the name Clason Point after Scottish merchant Isaac Clason bought its eastern half in 1793. Seaside resorts, dance halls and amusement parks, reached by ferry from College Point, Queens, once earned it the nickname Coney Island of the Bronx. Today it holds the bungalow enclave of Harding Park and Clason Point Park, where NYC Ferry service began in 2018.
