Eastchester keeps the name of the colonial town of Eastchester, which included this area from 1666 until New York City annexed it in the late 19th century. Seton Falls Park takes its name from a waterfall formed when Rattlesnake Creek was dammed on the Seton family estate, 32 acres of which the city acquired in 1914. Baychester is made up largely of one- and two-family houses, and the Dyre Avenue branch of the 5 train serves the area.
