It takes in the Bronx Psychiatric Center, a state psychiatric hospital run by the New York State Office of Mental Health that opened in 1963 and moved into a newly built campus in 2016. Next door, the Hutchinson Metro Center is an office and medical complex that held more than 80 companies, medical practices and health organizations, with about 7,500 workers, as of 2020. In 2019 the state drew up plans to redevelop about 34 acres of the hospital campus's northern portion with offices, laboratories and other uses.
